Carrying someone else’s child

Back in June, we wrote about the tragic story of a couple who lost their IVF baby after it was mistakenly implanted in another woman who aborted it when she found out. Brigitte Pellerin points us to a similar story from Ohio, but with a happy ending…

A woman who was implanted with someone else’s embryo is preparing to give birth and hand over the baby to the biological parents. There was no easy way out in this case – how do you justify aborting someone else’s baby? How do you carry and deliver someone else’s baby? I can’t imagine how hard it must be for everyone involved, but I’m glad they chose the option that would let the baby live.

I can’t even imagine how difficult that must be, but it’s inspiring that she has the courage to let the child live.

(Sidenote: Um… how often do fertility clinics get embryos mixed up?)
